Dublin Meath Growers Society Ltd

Dublin Meath Growers Society Limited is a horticultural society, which was established in 1987 and was the first horticultural producer group to be set up under the Ec Producer Organisation scheme.

Since Tesco Ireland Limited commenced dealing here almost 3 years ago following their purchase of the Quinnsworth group we have become one of their main suppliers of fresh produce and we currently supply over 90% of our turnover to the Tesco group. We have also been developing a smaller but lucrative relationship with the Marks & Spencer group over the past 2 years, which we hope to develop further. The acreage of fresh vegetables, salads and soft fruit grown by our members/suppliers represents some 2000 acres located primarily in north Co Dublin and Meath however we have now extended this to include growers in the South and South-East of Ireland. It would be fair to say that this network of growers includes some of the primary vegetable, salad and soft fruit producers in the country.


The society was originally set up to give the primary producer a better price year round and also to allow these growers concentrate on the production of quality products and allow us ensure a professional approach to the marketing of the produce. This now incorporates growing programmes being put in place at the start of each season.

We currently supply Tesco with 40 lines of vegetables, salads and soft fruit and have added a number of new lines over the past year with further lines being researched. We also are credited with ISO 9002, which assists greatly in implementing increased checks and controls within the workplace.

Currently we supply all the Tesco stores in Ireland with a large range of products some of which are exclusively supplied by us and our aim is to increase our exclusivity on other core lines.
