Organic Certification for Professional organic producers, processors and distributors
Event | 10 Jan 2012
Courses held over 2 consecutive weeks, 10 am to 5 pm (4 days).
If you are thinking of converting your farm to organic production, it is strongly recommended that you get the process underway as soon as possible.
If you wish to draw down payments under the Department of Agriculture’s Organic Farming Scheme, you must attend a compulsory course in organic farming. Details of the next round of Teagasc-run courses are outlined below. The course fee is Euro 220 and early booking is essential.
It is also recommended that you obtain a producer application pack from the Organic Trust - simply phone 01 8530271 and a pack will be sent out to you. This will allow you to get your application form printed; formulate your conversion plan and have maps & so forth ready for 2012 - the date on which the Organic Farming Scheme is due to re-open for new applicants has yet to be made available. Watch the Organic Trust website for details!
The next ‘Introduction to Organic Farming’ courses are due to commence as follows:
Macroom & Ballina - February 7th
Ballyhaise - February 27th
Kilmallock - February 28th
Castlerea & Tullamore - March 27th

Please contact Helen McNulty, Teagasc, 091 845217 to reserve your place on the appropriate course.
