Event | 20 Aug 2009
National Organic Week in Ireland in 2009 will take place from September 14th to September 20th 2009 inclusive. Complete the planning of your events and promotions now so that you can fully avail of this wonderful marketing opportunity. Nationwide advertising will remind consumers to ‘buy organic’.

The 2008 National Organic Week in Ireland was a great success. Organic Trust Members blazed a trail in all areas of organic food promotion. From grass-root events such as the generous tastings of Wilde’s delicious Irish organic chocolates to fascinating farm walks in Ballymaloe. The foodies among you were also well catered for at the Nenagh Street Organic Barbeque hosted by Organic Trust Member Peter Ward of Country Choice. This is just a sample of the many events hosted & organised by Organic Trust Members for the 2008 National Organic Week in Ireland - well done to all who participated and took the time to promote the myriad of benefits of organic food and the organic ethos in general.
2009 promises to offer a myriad of even more exciting events. Remember, Organic food is virtually the only growth area in the food sector at present and we emphasise the need to keep this momentum going.
One area where organics should flourish is in the home entertainment sector. In tight fiscal times eating-in is the new eating out – and what better way to make the dinner party ‘special’ than offering your guests delicious, tasty & nutritious organic food.
Many retailers discuss the need for value in food offerings, alas their scope for value is limited to the price – you know the old adage ‘knowing the price of everything but the value of nothing’. Well the Organic Trust strongly believes that now is the time to fully inform the consumer of the real and lasting benefits of organic food and that when they see the power of their purchase they will understand the true meaning of ‘value’. Many leaflets and booklets have been printed on the subject but there is nothing more convincing than meeting a food producer who is passionate about their craft and living the organic life.
The advantages of buying Organic Food include:
* Nutritious tasty food for you and your family
* Greater employment opportunities in the dwindling populations of rural Ireland
* Guardianship of our countryside by people who really care about it and live in it
* Greater diversity in wildlife and flora
* Higher standards of animal welfare
* Protection of our rivers and streams from chemical pollution
* Knock-on tourist opportunities from having a clean green environment
* Supporting local enterprises that tend to reinvest the bulk of their money back into the community
* Opportunities for our young people to make a career from the land and have a use for their hard earned college degrees.
The list is endless but it all comes back to the same thing – the promotion of Organic Food as a real value product is not something we should shy away from.
Ireland’s National Organic Week in 2009 (September 14th to 20th) is your chance to get out there and promote the message ‘organic food is good for nature, good for you’ and the Organic Trust would like to add ‘Good For Ireland’.
