Organic Trust launch new standards manual!

The Organic Trust have just launched a new user-friendly organic standards manual which incorporates all of the requirements of EC organic regulations 834/2007, 889/2008 and 1235/2008 as amended. The new manual has been approved by the Department of Agriculture, Food & The Marine and INAB (Irish National Accreditation Board).

The new manual which is titled Organic Food & Farming Standards in Ireland has been compiled in a user-friendly format which incorporates specific standards for all aspects of organic production (beef, lamb, poultry, horticulture etc) plus Aquaculture, Seaweed, Pot Plant, Herb, Wheatgrass & Sprouted Grain Production, rules for Allotment Holders and Honey, Bee and Deer production.

The new format represents a breakthrough in conveying complex organic regulations in plain English and is available by clicking on the Related Files link below .  If you do not have a high-speed broadband connection, the Organic Trust are happy to provide the new standards free of charge on CD - simply phone 01 8530271 for your copy.

The attached electronic version of the manual facilities a Search & Find facility which should prove useful to anyone who has any query regarding the organic production rules.

All members of the Organic Trust received their copy of the new manual in January and initial membership responses have been extremely positive and appreciative.

To assist in a smooth transition to the new manual, Standards Information Seminars are being held free of charge for all Organic Trust members at 6 nationwide locations - the details are available to Organic Trust members from the office (01 8530271).
